Your Lactation Specialist

Hi, my name is Gracie, I have over 20 years of experience working with mothers and their newborns as a maternity healthcare provider in Maternal Child Health.

My passion for helping mothers breastfeed their babies grew from my own breastfeeding experience and challenges with my daughter over 30 years ago. Lactation services weren’t available then as they are now and let me tell you the struggle was real. Amazingly, 30 years later I had the privilege of helping my daughter breastfeed her daughter.

I’ve assisted thousands of families over the years prenatally (preparing to breastfeed), in postpartum starting with the “golden hour” and throughout the hospital stay as a Lactation Specialist as well as in a Pediatric clinic working with newborns into the infancy stage and beyond.

Mother and Baby in-home support

Prenatal lactation consults are designed to prepare you through education, skill instruction & technique practice to be confident and empowered when initiating breastfeeding after delivery. We recommend a prenatal consult for ALL families planning to breastfeed or provide their newborn with breast milk. There are many common challenges when first beginning to breastfeed. This consultation will assist you with obtaining knowledge to prepare you for the challenges that may arise in the first several days after delivery. It will also enable you to establish a connection with your lactation specialist in advance so you know who to contact should you need assistance.

Reasons a prenatal lactation consultation is recommended may include…

· You're a first-time mom or first-time breastfeeding

· Previous challenges with breastfeeding or milk supply

· Twins or multiples
· Flat or inverted nipples
· Diabetes before or during pregnancy (gestational diabetes)
· History of infertility or PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)

  • Testimonials

Gracie- What an amazing and motivating coach she is.  She lifted our spirits with each coaching session.  She made something that at times seemed like a far-fetched dream, into small tangible accomplishments.  We are proud to show her how all of her advice/coaching has paid off.

    With Utmost Thanks,

  • “Gracie is hands down the best lactation consultant, and I am so grateful to have met her early on in my breastfeeding journey. After giving birth, I met with 4 lactation consultants at the hospital, none of which set me up for success and I left stressed & unable to feed my baby to the best of my ability and not knowing what to do. It wasn’t until meeting Gracie that she was able to help me when no one else could! She is extremely knowledgeable, kind & patient. I wish I had met her sooner in my breastfeeding journey, she is amazing, and I can’t thank her enough!”

  • Gracie was an amazing support for both me and my baby. She helped my baby ween from strictly nursing with a nipple shield after five months of exclusively using one. I thought I was stuck using the nipple shield as my baby completely refused the breast without it. She reassured me that I was doing what I needed to do for my baby and offered different techniques and advice which worked! Her kind words and encouragement gave me the reassurance I needed after I was able to get rid of the shield. She is both professional and personable. She will be the first person I reach out to if I need further support on mine and my baby's breastfeeding journey.

  • In just 15 minutes spent with Gracie made a BIG difference. She might remember me as the "Hickey girl" because I had some bruising from breastfeeding. She was patient when teaching me different positions and techniques to latch my baby correctly.

  • Gracie truly changed my postpartum and breastfeeding experience for the better. My daughter and I were having challenges with latching, keeping her awake during feedings, and increasing my milk supply. Gracie was incredibly understanding, patient, and knowledgeable and was able to help us with all of these issues within two sessions. I especially liked how she not only looked out for the health of my baby but really focused on my own mental health and well-being and what was right for me.

  • Thank you so much for all the help with my baby Girl. You did such an amazing job helping me and baby find a good comfortable position to feed so that both baby and I were able to have a great bonding experience. I also remember I talked to you about the pain in my breast during feeding and pain from clogged ducts. I've tried the massages on the breast that you had recommended, and the cream to smooth breast as well. I was at a point of giving up breastfeeding, but you helped me to have this experience and bond with my child and I will forever be grateful to you.

  • After having my 2nd baby with an 8 year gap I had to get in the groove of things like breastfeeding again. When I met with Gracie she was very attentive, informative, and hands on. She showed me techniques that I didn't know and made the lactation experience great.
